The Praxis Award -- Public Sector, of the Applied Geography Specialty Group, Association of American Geographers, recognizes outstanding research studies that demonstrate the practical application of geographical concepts, methods, techniques, and/or technologies to the investigation or implementation of government policies, plans, programs or projects.


AGSG PRAXIS AWARD - PRIVATE SECTOR

For Outstanding Achievement in Applied Geographical Research

The Praxis Award -- Private Sector, of the Applied Geography Specialty Group, Association of American Geographers, recognizes outstanding research studies that demonstrate the practical application of geographical concepts, methods, techniques, and/or technologies to the investigation or implementation of private enterprise policies, plans, programs, or projects.


Submission Instructions for the AGSG Praxis Awards
  • Each entry must include a one-page synopsis (maximum 250 words) that summarizes the intent and principal features of the entry. Recommendations, findings and/or implications should be stated clearly, and the synopsis must conclude with a statement explaining why the entry deserves recognition by the applied Geography Specialty Group.
  • Any entry exceeding twenty-five pages of text, excluding the synopsis and appendices, must include an Executive Summary not more than six 8.5 x 11 double-spaced pages in length.
  • Entries must include legibly reproduced illustrations, drawings, maps and tables necessary for a full understanding of the project.
  • Four copies of all entry materials must be provided.
  • To maintain anonymity in the evaluation process, no identification of the author(s) may appear on my part of the entry.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by one completed entry form. A client representative must be identified on the entry form, along with an address and telephone number in order that any questions about the entry may be confirmed by the representative.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by an entry fee of twenty-five dollars (U.S.). Make the cheque or money order payable to: Applied Geography Specialty Group.
  • Insert the completed entry form, author(s) information sheet, reports and payment in a travel-quality envelope.
  • Deadline for submission is December 31 of each year. Entries must show postmark or other evidence of being en route by the stated deadline. Use certified mail. The committee is not responsible for lost material.
